How to Write New Year’s Resolutions That Work (Part 2)
In the first part of How to Write New Year’s Resolutions That Work, I outlined the first steps to writing different, more powerful Resolutions for manifesting your desires. If you haven’t already gotten the book Separated By Dreams, I strongly suggest buying it or borrowing it from a friend. It will make more sense when you read these guidelines!
As promised, here are a few guidelines to keep in mind while writing your new powerful Resolutions:
- Write resolutions that don’t have a time limit. If you are extremely attached to a specific deadline of when you want to complete your goal and know you will be disappointed if it doesn’t happen on that date, then removing the deadline “This goal has to be achieved by end of 2009″ may be a way for you to allow the goal to happen on its own time and at the time that is best for you. Separated By Dreams explains in more detail why setting time limits for your goals to manifest doesn’t always work.
- Write your resolutions “as if” they already happened. The author of Separated By Dreams includes this resolution: “My raise in income is beyond what I imagined.” That is more powerful than “This year my goal is to get a raise of at least $8,000.”
- Write these resolutions as positive affirmations without a past. Look at the examples in Separated By Dreams and notice how the positive sentences don’t say “I would like to have a car that doesn’t break down as much” they instead brazenly claim “[I have a car whose] engine is in good working order” and “I appreciate my new vehicle.”
- Pat yourself on the back for taking steps towards rewriting your future!
- Read over each Resolution and ask yourself “Are there any reasons why I think this Resolution can’t come true for me?” These reasons are limiting beliefs that you need to release from your belief-system. One way to zap these limitations from your subconscious mind is by using the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).
