I can’t find the perfect affirmation that applies to my situation.
Playback Affirmation
Even though I can’t find the perfect affirmation for this situation, I’m willing to consider writing one of my own that inspires and helps me through this difficult time.
Positive Affirmations seem to be everywhere these days. Many self-help books and coaches will list out several of these uplifting affirmations for your use in changing your negative thinking to positive.
“Think positive,” someone says to you when your Inner Critic seems to be the only voice you hear in your head.
But what happens when these suggested affirmations don’t apply to the situation you’re in? Positive thoughts take practice and when you’re suddenly in a jam and caught off guard when the messenger delivers some “bad news”, flipping through stacks of books with positive affirmations in search of the perfect one that applies to your situation isn’t the most efficient way to recover from self-doubt and disappointment.
The first time I sat down to write some personal affirmations of my own, I had just finished reading Living in the Spiritual Zone: 10 Steps to Change Your Life and Discover Your Truth
. This book had positive affirmations that were so inspiring that you could feel the power behind them and can’t help it if you grin like a fool as Quinn opens the door to a world of possibility that only yesterday, you hesitated to walk through due to insecurity.
What makes Quinn’s affirmations different from others is the sheer boldness in how he describes your unlimited power within the affirmations. He is specific, to the point, and by listing out these bold and expansive affirmations–suggests to you that you ought to give yourself the permission to think big.
I didn’t intend to write my own affirmations when I purchased Quinn’s book, and even though the act of writing some of your own isn’t the focus of his book, I was simply…compelled! When I started to write out the first few custom affirmations, I read what I wrote and suddenly got inspired to create affirmations for all areas of my life, going into great detail about what I wanted to be, do and have.
I wrote furiously–3 pages of my own personal affirmations! I couldn’t believe how good I felt afterwards! The next day I read my new affirmations to a friend and she got so inspired that she–went to the copy machine and zeroxed my affirmations so she could use them as a reference to write her own!
So you see, you can write your very own positive affirmations that apply to you personally and get re-inspired anytime you need a boost of motivation and confidence.
I highly recommend reading Living in the Spiritual Zone
to help prepare you for writing your own positive affirmations. The book thoroughly lists many sample affirmations in areas such as career aspirations, financial prosperity, relationships, and even self-image topics such as accepting your physical appearance just the way it is.

I agree!
Writing your own affirmations is a beautiful thing.
I actually kind of like the idea of writing them in conjunction with your resolutions. You are thinking positively about yourself and the world when you write your affirmations and then to turn to your resolutions after putting yourself into such a positive spiritual state you are more likely to create resolutions you will follow through with and be fulfilled with.
What a great idea!
@Alina, That’s a good point you make about writing positive affirmations regarding New Year’s Resolutions–they’ve definitely helped place me in a positive mindset. It seems that the act of writing these positive sentences retrains your brain and even if you only do this for a minute of your day, over time this 1 minute of positivity DUPLICATES and as your mind begins to transform so does your life! Thank you for your insightful comment! Here’s to your emotional freedom
