How to Find the Perfect Employee using the Law of Attraction (Part 2)
Limiting Belief: The perfect employee doesn’t want the sort of job I’m trying to fill in our company.
Playback Affirmation: Even though I don’t think that the perfect person for the job would actually want this position, I deeply and completely accept all of me–even the parts of me that believe this is true…And I am willing to trust that the characteristics of our company and the position we’re hiring for will be a perfect fit for the person who is right for the job.
In Part 1 of How to Find the Perfect Employee using the Law of Attraction I shared my own personal story of how I was able to hire the right person to join my company. Although I use my story as an example, you can use the Law of Attraction on ANYTHING. I’ve outlined how to do this in 5 simple steps. If you are struggling with how to put the Law of Attraction to work for you, I hope that these 5 steps will help you close the gap. So here we go…
What I learned about the Law of Attraction that I’d like you to take away from my experience:
1. Determine what you “don’t want”:
I did not want the hiring process to be a lot of work.
I did not want to place an ad in newspapers or on the Internet.
I did not want to hire an employee that I would later regret hiring.
2. Be specific in determining what you “do want”:
I wanted the hiring process to be quick and easy.
I wanted to hire someone who was easy to train, had a friendly outgoing demeanor, spoke English and Spanish, was efficient and conscientious, and would ask us during slow times if we had any projects he might be able to work on.
I wanted the person who possessed these characteristics and skill set to approach us without being referred to us through traditional recruiting channels (advertising, posting a sign on our window, etc).
3. Be okay with not getting what you want.
Being too attached to the outcome means that lurking underneath your desire lies a limiting belief you’ve been harboring where Your inner Critic has talked you into doubting that you can actually attract what you want:
For the past 3 months, I’ve been working on letting go of a few of my limiting beliefs. I think the most important ones I released is the belief that “the ideal person for this position is not going to want this type of job” and “good employees are hard to find these days”.
4. Don’t be attached to “how you think it should look” to have your wish fulfilled:
As I explained in point 3, after I had asked the Universe to bring me the ideal person for the job, I didn’t expect one of the Front Desk agents to quit that day (I truly thought we would have more time to find and train a new employee before letting go of the one we wanted to replace). I also didn’t expect any of the Front Desk agents to pass out job applications without my approval. Nor did I envision that we would be hiring a front desk agent’s fiancé! But I reminded myself to be completely open to all possibilities, and however this “right person for the job” would come to us.
5. Continue doing whatever it takes to make your wish come true (yes, including showing up for the work)…this helps you get clear on what you want…
After recognizing that these limiting beliefs were just fears that “there’s not enough good employees to go around”, I accepted that I may still have to do some work to attract the ideal person for the job. What I understand from “The Law of Attraction in Action” by Esther Hicks is that continuing to take physical action to attract what you want puts your attention on that which you want, not that which you do not want.
I used to think that taking physical action (instead of merely visualizing what you want) demonstrates to the Universe that this is what you really want—but as Esther Hicks explains, the Universe already knows what you want! It is YOU, yourself that may have gotten confused! If you focus on what you don’t want, you may not be allowing what you want to come to you. If I had focused on “good employees are hard to find these days,” I may have gotten mad at the front desk employee for passing along a job application to her fiancé without my approval because of the belief that her fiancé would not be right for the job. And I may also have decided that our current employee was not being “a good employee” because she had bypassed protocol. If I had focused on “good employees are hard to find” I would have expanded this into my reality and passed up my employee’s fiancé as a good candidate for the job, and probably would have decided that my current front desk agent was not a good employee either.
To sum this up I’d like to state the obvious: By thinking about what you do not want you are staying on the path of “not having what you want” and this will lead you to…more of what you don’t want. And before you know it, you are further away from what you say you want.
~Focus on what you want so that what you want expands. ~
